    2023 Pan-American Youth Chess Championships
    Chicago, USA, Aug 11-18, 2023

    The Renaissance Knights Chess Foundation, the International Chess School, the Confederation of Chess for America (CCA) and the US Chess Federation Federation, are pleased to invite all National Chess Federations of the Americas to the XXXIII Pan-American Youth Chess Festival Open and Girls, from August 11 - 18, 2023 in Chicago, Illinois, USA.

    Venue : The event will be held in the McCormick Place West, located across the street from the Hotel.


    Hotel : Hyatt Regency McCormick Place - 2233 S Dr Martin Luther King Jr Dr, Chicago, Illinois 60616, USA.
    All participants must stay at the official hotel.
    Strongly suggest players and families book the hotel as early as you can. It will be fully booked month before the tournament.

    Eligibility:
    There shall be 6 categories: Under 08, Under 10, Under 12, Under 14, Under 16 and Under 18 with separate events for Boys/Open and Girls (in total 12 championships).
    Entitled to participate in each category are:
    Under 08: Players born on or after 1 January 2015,
    Under 10: Players born on or after 1 January 2013,
    Under 12: Players born on or after 1 January 2011,
    Under 14: Players born on or after 1 January 2009,
    Under 16: Players born on or after 1 January 2007,
    Under 18: Players born on or after 1 January 2005.


    Tournament Details and Time Control:
    ● System:
    The tournament will be played according to the Swiss System in 9 rounds. Pairings will be made with the FIDE official software, Swiss-Manager.
    ● Time control:
    Time control is 90 minutes plus 30 seconds increment from move one.


    Pan-American Youth Registration - Deadline July 11, 2023
    This event is OPEN to all players. The deadline for Official Players is April 1, 2023.
    For all players, regardless official or not, please register yourselves into the tournament directly.

    Within one CFC chess calendar year from Jul to Jul, players who already received official benefits will not be considered unless there is no other player register for the section.

    If you are eligible and qualified for the Official Player in your age catalogue, please fill in the CFC registration form and express your interest before April 1.

    Official Representatives will have the coverage for accommodation in designated hotel by the organizer base on a double occupancy room and meals in the official hotel starting from dinner on Aug 11 and ending with lunch on Aug 18 and a food stipend.

    Rules for Selection of Official Players for 2023 Pan-American Youth
    Player in the same age bracket has higher priority than player move up into next age bracket

    1. 2022 CYCC champion in same age group who didn't go to WCCC/WYCC as official player.
    2. 2022 CYCC champion moving up age group who didn't go to WCCC/WYCC as official player.
    3. Second place 2022 CYCC player in same age group who didn't go to WCCC/WYCC as official player.
    4. Second place 2022 CYCC player moving up age group who didn't go to WCCC/WYCC as official player
    5. Third place 2022 CYCC player in same age group who didn't go to WCCC/WYCC as official player
    6. Third place 2022 CYCC player moving up an age group who didn't go to WCCC/WYCC as official player
    7. Highest placing 2022 CYCC player whether in the same age group or moving up who did not go to WYCC as official player. Ties are resolved by highest rating.
    8. Anyone in the appropriate age group who played in 2022 CYCC.
    9. In case player(s) graduate into an older age bracket. The one not moving up an age bracket would have priority over someone moving up.
    10. If none of the qualifying players, rating is a tie break if you have two players who did not attend 2022 CYCC.
