    2023 Toronto Women's Closed Championship

    Open to women in all ages with minimum 1300 CFC classical rating.


    Where: Annex Chess Club (Great Hall and/or Sun Room)
    918 Bathurst Street Toronto, ON M5R 3G5

    Style: 7-round Swiss, in 1 section.

    Timing: 7:30 PM each Monday evening (play dates – Sept. 18/25, Oct. 2/16/23, Nov. 6/13)

    Time Controls: 90 mins + 30 sec increment.

    Byes: 0-pt. byes allowed with advance notice in any round (rather than rated forfeit for no-show without advance notice).

    Membership: CFC current membership required.

    Ratings: CFC + FIDE (provided minimum requirements met).

    Fees (before discount): $85/player-fee is payable once pre-registration has closed (date TBD).

    Discount: $20/ACC member. FIDE-titled players have free entry. Fees are non-refundable once play starts.

    Prize Fund: $1,000 based on 20 paying players; prizes for 1st ($500), 2nd ($300), 3rd ($200), including ties.

    Organizer: George Supol, ACC Club Manager. All equipment provided. Arbiters: Keith Denning.

    An update for Toronto Women's Championship:

    Unrated players are welcome! The Championship starts on October 18.

    The 2023 Toronto Women's Closed Chess Championship is overseen by the Greater Toronto Chess League (GTCL). Here are the details:

    Location: Annex Chess Club
    7-round Swiss in one section.
    Open to women and girls of all ages.
    6:30 PM each Monday evening. Rounds are held on Oct. 23, Nov. 6, 13, 20, 27, Dec. 4, 11.
    60' + 30" time control. Games should generally be finished by 9:00 p.m.
    Pre-registration required. Final player list will be top 30 CFC-rated players. Unrated players are welcome.
    CFC rated. CFC membership required.
    Free entry for titled players (please email info@annexchessclub.com)
    Entry fee: $80, ($60 for ACC members)
    Free entry to ACC's Hallowe'en Rapid (Oct. 30) included!
    Prize fund: $1200 (including $500 for first place) based on 30 entrants.
