    Lightbulb Urgent: Registration Open for Canadian School Teams Championships, June 11, 2023

    To all chess communities,

    Chess Federation of Canada is inviting all players currently in schools to form a school term and join our first Canadian School Team Championships.
    This is the qualifying tournament to the World School Team Championships.



    The competition will be held in hybrid format. All Captains will required to join into Zoom meeting during the event.

    Tournament date: June 11, 2023

    Registration deadline: 8 pm EST timezone, June 7th, 2023

    Location: Hybrid online lichess.org platform

    Time control: 15 minutes plus 10 seconds increment per move starting from move 1.

    Rating: CFC Rapid Rated

    Schedule based on Eastern EST timezone
    Check in: 11:30 am
    Round 1: noon
    Round 2: 1 pm
    Break
    Round 3: 3 pm
    Round 4: 4 pm
    Round 5: 5 pm

    Team Composition:
    All 5 team members must be in the same educational institution. Chess clubs, tutoring centres, etc… are not eligible. Players will be asked to produce report cards as proof of attending the educational institution

    Tournament format: 5 rounds Fixed roster Swiss or Round Robin if the section is small.

    Entry fees: $100 per team. The proceeds will go to support Canadian teams at the world championship.

    Please send card number & expiry date to admin@chess.ca or

    Note: please include Team Captain name, and is for "National School Teams Event"

    Two teams from Canada traveled to Aktau, Kazakhstan on Aug 3 to start their World Schools Team Championship journey.

    U12 Team : Jayden Zhan, Felix Zhou, Michael Chen, Jasper Jia and Alex Liao and Captain Jennifer Yun
    U18 Team : Henry Liu, Charis Zhu, Tsz Yeung Daniel Guan and Zeen Liu and Captain Shawn Liu
    Both teams are doing extremely well with 2 more rounds to go. Besides the furious fight on the boards, it is also the best time make friends from all around the world
