2023 World School Chess Championships
Rhodes, Greece, April 13-23, 2023
This is the official invitation to all member national federations of FIDE and eligible players to participate in the World School Chess Championships 2023 (categories for boys/open and girls under 7, 9, 11, 13, 15 and 17 years old). The championships will be held in Rhodes, Greece from 13 to 23 April 2023 under the auspices of the World Chess Federation (FIDE) and Prefecture of South Aegean

Venue : The event will be held in the 5-star “Rodos Palace” conference resort.
Eligibility:
There shall be 6 categories: Under 07, Under 09, Under 11, Under 13, Under 15 and Under 17 with separate events for Boys/Open and Girls (in total 12 championships).
Entitled to participate in each category are:
Under 07: Players born on or after 1 January 2016,
Under 09: Players born on or after 1 January 2014,
Under 11: Players born on or after 1 January 2012,
Under 13: Players born on or after 1 January 2010,
Under 15: Players born on or after 1 January 2008,
Under 17: Players born on or after 1 January 2006.
Tournament Details and Time Control:
● System:
The tournament will be played according to the Swiss System in 9 rounds. Pairings will be made with the FIDE official software, Swiss-Manager.
● Time control:
Time control is 90 minutes plus 30 seconds increment from move one.
Hotel :
All Participants are obliged to stay in official hotels and bookings must be done only through the organizers.
Refer to the Invitation File for detailed Hotel package fee.
Registration - Deadline is February 01, 2023
CFC is accepting entries for eligible players until Feb 01, 2023. No registrations will be accepted afterward.

Official Players Selection:
There is no official players for this event. All players are eligible to attend this event. All registration must be done thru Federation.
Players and parents will responsible for all costs. Refer to Invitation file section 8 for tournament costs.
CFC Administrative Fee - $100CAD/player.

World school is in full action right now. There are 530 participants from 53 countries with over 1500 visitors in total. Our little guy, U7 player Elliot McCallum from Vancouver is leading with perfect scores after round 5.
