The Canadian Chess Hall of Fame was established in 2000 by David Cohen. While David passed away earlier this year, he wanted to see his project continued and made arrangements with Chess'n Math Association (CMA) to house the permanent plaques with the names of the winners. CMA has also agreed to create keeper plaques for future winners, as elected by a Committee (Larry Bevand, Hugh Brodie, Ian Findlay, Fred McKim and Steven Wright) hand picked by David.

Members of the Hall of Fame can presently be found at canadianchess.info (David's website), while we are looking for a more permanent online home for the information.

The independent Hall of Fame Committee (recognized by both National bodies...the CMA and the CFC and endorsed by David's wife, Lisette Lu ) has recently voted on a series of nominations made by David, about two years ago. The 2021 Hall of Fame inductees are Annabelle Lougheed-Freedman, Canon Henry Roy, and Stanley B. Wilson. I'll write up a small piece on each of them in the next couple of days. Sometime in 2022, we will present a family member (if one can be found) with their plaque. If we're unable to find a family member, we'll make a presentation to a club or provincial association, as appropriate.

We will make an announcement shortly, on ChessTalk, concerning how to make nominations for the class of 2022.
