    An official FIDE Continental Championship offering IM, FM, WIM, WFM FIDE titles and GM, IM, WGM, WIM norms for winners!

    Eligibility
    This is a completely open event for those who meet the age and eligibility requirements.

    Open Section: Open to players (boys and girls) from Canada, Mexico, and USA who are under 20 years old (19 and younger) as of 1/1/2021 (born on or after 1/1/2001). Players must have a FIDE
    ID registered under CAN, MEX, or USA and have the endorsement of their federation.

    Girls Section: Open to girls from Canada, Mexico, and USA who are under 20 years old (19 and younger) as of 1/1/2021 (born on or after 1/1/2001). Players must have a FIDE ID registered under CAN, MEX, or USA and have the endorsement of their federation.


    Format:
    9 Rounds, G/90 minutes; increment 30 seconds
    FIDE and US Chess Rated, December 2021 FIDE ratings used for pairings
    No half-point byes, zero-point byes only
    Chess sets, clocks and scoresheets provided


    Pairings:
    December FIDE ratings used for pairings.

    Entry Fee
    • All fees are in US Dollars ($) and include all CCA and FIDE Fees.
    • $260 paid online by November 20.
    • $280 paid online between November 21 and December 10.
    • $300 paid online between December 11 and December 18.
    • Last day to register is December 18. No on-site registration.
    • Refunds will incur a 5% transaction penalty if requested by December 15. No refunds after December 15.

    CCA Fee
    A $75 (USD) fee per player will be paid to CCA (Confederation for Chess for America).

    Players should register directly with the organizers online at www.charlottechesscenter.org/najunior.

    Awards/Direct FIDE Titles:
    Medals to top 3 in each section (on tiebreaks if necessary).
    Open section:
    Gold medal = IM title and GM norm; if tie for first, top 3 on tiebreaks receive IM title, gold medalist also earns GM norm.
    Silver medal = FM title and IM norm.
    Bronze medal = FM title and IM norm.

    Girls section
    Gold medal = WIM title and WGM norm; if tie for first, top 3 on tiebreaks receive WIM title, gold medalist also earns WGM norm.
    Silver medal = WFM title and WIM norm.
    Bronze medal = WFM title and WIM norm.


    Schedule:
    Arrival Saturday 12/18.
    Players meeting (required) Sunday 12/19 11:30am,
    Rounds 1-8 Sunday 12/19-Wed 12/22 each 12pm and 6pm,
    Round 9 Thu 12/23, 11am.

    Canadian Official Representative Selection Criteria

    North American Junior Championship Canadian Official player selection is open and will end by Nov 15, 2021.

    The official player name(s) will be selected based on the highest CFC regular rating (CFC Nov 17 cycle) and player’s commitment to the tournament.
    A player’s commitment includes, registration and payment of the tournament, flight itinerary, hotel booking, and all other expenses by the deadline to apply for the official selection (Nov 15, 2021). No late registration will be considered.

    Official players will be announced on Nov 18, 2021 and will be submitted immediately to the organizer on that date.
    By participating to the selection, players/parents take full responsibility to actually participate in this event.


    Benefit of official representatives
    CFC will submit the official player name(s) to the organizer. The registration fee will be covered by the host organizer.
