This no longer a proposal. We have signed the agreement. Vlad can share some of the details.

GoMembership is a membership and event management platform which allows organizations to streamline memberships, events, and payments. They also allow integration with clubs and provincial organizations. At the moment we are only concerned with automation of the membership and payment functions but over time we will expand to take advantage of other capabilities built into the platform.

Do we have a feeling for how much time this will save the CFC office?

Currently, if someone pays via credit card they have to make a phone call to Bob and he has to enter the information into the terminal and then he has to update the database to indicate that the person has paid. There are additional steps to move the money into our bank account I believe. Under this GoMembership platform the membership is automatically updated and the money appears in our account. In addition, there is an option to automatically update our accounting system with all the payments and expenses. There are other handy features that will allow us to keep ourselves better informed on the state of membership collections. There is a payment system built in which will allow collection of entry fees and membership fees for tournaments for clubs and organizers who sign on. There is a high level of sophistication for the system and as I said there are additional features that we might take advantage of in the future which might be used to track certifications for arbiters and coaches but for now we are only concerned with reducing the load on Bob and streamlining our financial reporting (hopefully).

From the limited information provided in this thread, this GO Membership seems like an improvement. Something that needs agreements to be signed used to be up for a vote and discussion though, in the old days.

This is true but with the NFP Act, the government forced us to standardize similar to other not for profit corporations in alignment with the way that the government wanted us to operate.

We did have at least one discussion about GoMembership at an earlier CFC meeting. No objections were raised beyond some suggestions that we might try to build a similar application ourselves. We don't have the time to create it ourselves and it seemed sensible to go with a company that has done this many times before including for the English Chess Federation. With the increase in membership it is getting hard for one person to handle it and hiring a second person is a non-starter.

We are starting a committee on updating our website or at least fixing all the attempted and actual hacking going on.
