Today FIDE published its rating list. Canadians:

Afternoon the CFC should update own rating list. I'll try to make a comparison table for active FIDE and CFC players this evening.

The top 5 FIDE rated Canadian women players are ( active in the last 24 months, internationally or in Canada ) :

.# 1 : WFM Yuanling Yuan ( 1994 - Scarborough CC member ! ) at 2203 ;.

# 2 : WIM Nava Starr, 8 time Canadian Women’s Champion ( last in 2001 ), at 2173.

# 3 : WIM Natalia Khoudgarian, 2006 & 2007 Canadian Women’s Champion, at 2137;

# 4 : WFM Dina Kagramanov, 2006 & 2007 Canadian Women’s Championship
Runner-Up, at 2093 ;

# 5 : Anastasia Kazakevich ( 1988 ) at 2049..

There are 4 inactive Canadian WIM’s : Vesma Baltgailis; Johanne Charest; Dinara Khaziyeva; Smilja Vujosevic.

I went to the link referenced... if you select only active women, Nava Starr is not on the list. If you select all women, Nava Starr is 3rd, after Yuanling Yuan and Lia Bogdan.

So, Bob, I don't understand how you arrived at your list.

(Oh dear, it sounds like I care. Clearly, senility is setting in.)

It's great to hear that someone out there in cyberspace cares !!

Nava Starr and Lia Bogdan are not on the FIDE active list because they have not played FIDE-rated games recently.

Lia has also not played any CFC-rated games in the last 2 years ( my activity criteria ), and so she is not on my active list either. Nava, however, has played in Canadian tournaments in the last 2 years, and so she makes my list as # 2.

So all is well under the stars !!

Great list with links. The tables are lost on the webzine site.

In terms of active Canadians not living in Canada, as well as Spraggett, I might include FM Stephen Boyd of France 2318 (An IA who is quite willing to return to Canada to direct a tournament).

Inactive IM Leon Piasetski 2288 has recently returned to Canada from Japan and is listed.

Inactive GM Duncan Suttles 2420 only plays random and doublechess?

Inactive IM Zvonko Vranesic 2320 has retired from U of T but was very interested in the Suttles books.

Inactive FM Roman Pelts 2417 still teaches chess.

Inactive IM Sophia Polgar 2459 teaches chess in Toronto, but will be moving in a few months.

IMs Brian Hartman 2409, Michael Schleifer 2339 will play again.
