Default 10F. Extension of Chess Foundation Trustee Michah Hughey's end date from 2014 to 2015

From Lyle Craver (foru Year Trustee nomination thread)

Governors - the 5 Trustees of the Chess Foundation of Canada are made up of 4 trustees elected to 4 year terms one to be replaced annually plus 1 trustee elected for a one year term.

From the records it is not completely clear what happened in 2010 as only one trustee was supposed to have been elected. It is my intention - supported by Paul Leblanc - to make a motion under "New Business" to make Micah Hughey the 2011 trustee thus extending his term to 2015 to get things back to our historical rotation.

2009-2013 Hugh Brodie (to be replaced this year)
    2010-2014 Lynn Stringer
2010-2014 Micah Hughey (Term to be changed to 2011-2015)
    2011-2015 none
    2012-2016 Paul Leblanc

2012-2013 Hans Jung (to be replaced this year)

In light of the complete non-interest expressed in this motion I hereby withdraw the motion. With the result of our elections the Trustees become:

    2010-2014 Lynn Stringer
2010-2014 Micah Hughey (Term to be changed to 2011-2015)
    2011-2015 none
    2012-2016 Paul Leblanc
    2013-2017 Hans Jung

    2013-2014 Hugh Brodie

I do believe the present system of Trustees serves the Federation well and that we would do well to return to it as soon as possible. One reasonable option at the 2014 meeting might be to elect one 4-year Trustee plus 2 one year Trustees for 2014-15 and then go back to the usual 1 4 year trustee plus 1 1 year trustee the following year.

Frankly having read and re-read the 2010 minutes I remain mystified precisely how what happened happened!

However at this point there is no crushing urgency to proceed and thus this matter should be referred to one of the Quarterly Governors meetings in the coming year. I would welcome a motion either to adopt my suggestion or something else going forward. We are reasonable men and women and should be able to make this work!

If you move it (again) I'll second it. We should get this out of the way rather than deal with it again.

    Hi Lyle:

I also think you should move it again. It is a good housekeeping motion. I think you should not expect it will generate any discussion.

    I will vote for it.

We're not under any immediate time pressure here forcing us to make a decision with nasty consequences if we don't - let's defer it to the October meeting. (In my opinion voting a second 1 year trustee next year is probably more democratic than any case.)

I didn't comment on it only because it seemed to be a no-brainer. I didn't realise it had never been seconded.

Well actually Paul Leblanc had agreed to second it but again - it's a technical motion that I didn't expect to engender huge interest but did at least expect a minimal amount... we can deal with it later - the Foundation isn't going to collapse over a 3 month delay!
