    The CFC Regular Chess Post – June 11/12 – OCA AGM ( On-line ).

The first ever OCA AGM On-line commenced Saturday, May 26. Ontario – SWOCL was the first to try this format for the AGM. Now CFC has decided that the 2012 CFC AGM will also be on-line. The meeting is now into its 17th day. Going on-line has boosted attendance at OCA AGM’s to a record number – 100% of Outgoing OCA Governors have attended! And 100% of Incoming Governors have attended the second part of the AGM. Some motions have been debated on and voted on in the Outgoing AGM, as well as there being heated debate on a couple of issues ( Regional Boundaries; formula for establishing Regional CFC Governor allocations; etc. ). At the Incoming AGM, there has been election of OCA Officers, also at least one motion coming forward, as well as debate on the 2012-3 Budget, etc. The officers are:

    President: Rob Clark
    4 VP’s – were elected at the 4 regional AGM’s
    Secretary – Michael Zaghi
    Treasurer – Brett Campbell
    Youth Coordinator – Patrick McDonald

The OCA made the daring move of making the meeting open to the public, and allowing guests to post and interact with governors. This has gone very well, and is a precedent that should carefully be considered re other AGM’s. The meeting is expected to last for a few more days ( it has been longer than anticipated, and this will be looked at to determine what is appropriate for next year ).

    Default Voting Closes Tomorrow

The voting on three items at the incoming governors' meeting closes tomorrow morning. Because the meeting is open to the public, and " interactive ", visitors can actually see the vote totals as the voting progresses, just like the governors. Ontarians may wish to go see what your tax dollars at work looks like.

Default Outgoing AGM - Motions Results

Here are the results of the three motions at the Incoming Governors' AGM:

    1. List of OCA Governors submitted by the 4 regional leagues - no challenges.

    2. 2012-3 Budget, presented by the Executive to the governors for approval - defeated. The organization must now continue on for the moment ( the OCA fiscal year started April 1/12 ) under an executive only-approved 2012-3 budget. The executive must soon present a revised budget, and seek approval for it. This may involve a special on-line meeting of the OCA Governors, in the near future. Given the chequered financial history of the OCA, this does not help, in the opinon of some, regardless of valid objections to the budget as presented.

    3. Amendment of the OCA Bylaw re formula for determining regional CFC/OCA governors - defeated ( did not reach 2/3 majority, though it did get a simple majority ). The result now is that the CFC uses a different formula for calculating Ontario CFC Governors, than the OCA does in calculating regional CFC Governors.

The meeting is about to come to a close, having lasted 21 days.
