I thought this message board required proper registration...

If so, the list of people currently on the board is curious:

Most users ever online was 39, 05-06-2009 at 02:15 AM.
Kerry Liles, Biliarraddy, HIJohn, ladywinners

I understand my name, but don't recognize the other 3...

Is registration no longer required? Is it simply being rubber-stamped?

They can "register" but not post without approval.

How 'bout BestPriceViagra and his or her cousin, i presume, BestViagraPrice?
They may promote all sorts of viral spreading, but would they still respect me in the morning?:D

And these tittilating creatures are now junior members, whilst i remain but an empty square. I wish I were hip.

So why would anybody register, if not to post? I propose you eliminate this "register" category. Anybody can view the posts, if you want to post, then you register and post under your real name! None of this phoney baloney stuff.

To paraphase Yoda, "there is no register, there is only post or don't post".:D

I was wondering about that too?
Is an empty square < or = or > a pawn ?

I'm a knight, so how do I get promoted to a rook?

Inquiring minds would like to know!

They must think that I'll approve them.

Anyone can read a post currently, but if you want to post you have to register, verify your email address, and be approved.

And(?) use something that resembles a real name? Not sure how you verify that, but you should avoid (as much as possible) 'throw-away' email addresses too, but that is not trivial.

The vast majority use .ru email addresses. I was luckily able to block those on Chesstalk but the CFC owns a slightly older version of the software and it seems I can't, so I have to manually filter them out.

There are a lot of them too, for example yesterday I pruned about 3800 dummy users. Took around half an hour.

I've only once had someone complain about being deleted - it may have been on Chesstalk actually. But they registered with some name like chess589746 and a webmail email address.

Is an image verification with a flaw? Or are these accounts created by people?
