Dear all players, parents, and chess communities,

Congratulations to all players who qualified to the 2024 Canadian Youth Chess Championship (CYCC) in Laval, Quebec!

The Chess Federation of Canada and Juniors to Masters Chess Academy are working together to offer the CYCC Preparation Seminar. We want to help ensure that you have a wonderful experience at the CYCC; and we know that you likely have many questions including, how should I prepare for the CYCC?, What will the CYCC experience be like?, etc.


CYCC Preparation Seminar before CYCC starts
Date / Time: Tues, May 7, 2024 at 4:30pm PST / 7:30pm EST for 1.5 hours
Cost: $25 + HST
Platform: Zoom
Zoom space: 100 participants

This lecture will be presented by Team Canada Head Coach Grandmaster Gergely Szabo to those players who have newly qualified to play in the 2024 CYCC. It will provide insights on how to prepare for this prestigious youth tournament, as well as suggested types of training, book recommendations, etc. There will also be a Question & Answer session for the players and parents.

In addition, CFC Youth Coordinator Christina Tao will discuss the benefits of competing at the CYCC.

During CYCC, Preparation for all International Tournaments Seminar
Date/Time: Tue, Jul 11, after Round 5 start
Location: onsite, will be announced during CYCC

What kind of international tournaments that CFC will send Team Canada to participate
