Dear all,

I hope everyone is staying safe and healthy.

Kalev Pugi Fund application officially open for apply. Deadline is Auguest 15, 2022

This year there is a new scholarship for female player.
* Women players under the age of 25 are eligible for a ~$450 scholarship. In order to be eligible, players must have a proof of admission from a post-secondary education institution (incl. University, Colleges, Cegep.) in Canada or abroad. The committee reserves the right not to attribute any scholarship depending on the number of applications. The awardee needs to attend the institution to receive her award. Current post-secondary students are not eligible.


As a reminder, applications will be based on past tournaments (Jul 1, 2021 - Jun 30, 2022), so anyone under 18 who participated in a major tournament(s) in the last chess cycle year is eligible.

Again, application receives after deadline date will not be considered.
All application must be submitted thru the about form. Applications emailed to the Kalev Pugi committee will not be considered.
We would also appreciated if everyone could forward this link to other potential applicants.

The Kalev Pugi women scholarship is awarded to Elena Yunyi Yang.
Elena will attend the Entrepreneur Program in Babson College in January 2023. Congratulations!

The annual Kalev Pugi Scholarship is awarded to Neil Doknjas, Johnathan Han and Max Rusonik.


Congratulation to all winners, we wish you all the best in the coming years with great success in chess.
