The National Appeals Committee is a board of 5 senior tournament directors which meets as needed (some years it does not meet at all) to serve as the "Supreme Court" on tournament disputes. Many members of this committee are FIDE International Arbiters though this is not a requirement to serve on the committee.

When there is a dispute requiring resolution by the NAC the members convene, are presented the facts of the case and after considerable discussion prepare their responses individually. These are summarized by the Committee chair and released publicly.

As a past member of this committee I found it a challenging but highly educational position that would appeal to senior tournament directors.

Please post nominations fto the National Appeals Committee here.

Nominations close 1800 Day 3 (Tuesday) with elections ASAP thereafter ending at 1800 Day 7 (Saturday)

Thank you Mark for the kind words. Someone might need to officially nominate me.

If nominations are needed, then am I allowed to nominate Ilia Bluvshtein, Pierre Dénommée, Mark S. Dutton, and Stephen Wright? If yes, then I hereby do.

Thank you, kind regards, Aris Marghetis.

Actually, though not necessary, I will nominate Aris Marghetis for the committee. Strictly speaking because of the thresholds in the NFP act a declaration is enough to establish a candidacy.

I nominate Mark Dutton for the committee.

I nominate Pierre Dénommée for the committee.

I nominate Stephen Wright for the committee.

I nominate Ilia Bluvshtein for the committee.

Not sure why it took a few moments for Aris's post to show up on my screen but we can convert my nominations to seconding of the nominations.

Excuse my ignorance, but do we need to second nominations, or just motions?

Nominations do not require a seconder.

Strictly speaking we need only the expression of interest from the person intending to run.

Strictly speaking we need only the expression of interest from the person intending to run.

The NFP Act only demands that nobody be elected against his will, this implies that nominees have indicated that they will accept if elected.

I am willing to stand again.
