415 Here are some of the files sent in support of the Victoriaville bid.

More files in support of the Victoriaville bid. The size of pdf allowed seems to have been increased somewhat but it is still not sufficient for two of the files in English which I will have to share using a different method.

All the files in one transfer including two English files that were too big for the CFC forum (including the ones that did fit in the forum which were in French). Files download as a zip file. Neat file sharing website. The download link works for me.

Again, I want to stress that this bid was approved by the CFC Executive three or four weeks ago, as there certain deadlines the organizers needed to meet and we had received no competing bids. There have been several developments since the bid was submitted, but I will leave those for Roger Langen to share.

A very impressive bid for the 2020 Canadian Seniors. I can't wait to go to Halifax.

I'm going to state the obvious here: any bid for the CYCC/CO is probably going to be tangled up in the CFC/FQE negotiations until they are settled.

Those are two separate issues that shouldn't be linked together. This is a good bid that could be accepted independently from the CFC/FQE negotiations. Actually, this is the only bid and I prefer to have a Canadian Open rather then not having one.

It seems at the moment that there are going to be at least three good bids for the same tournaments.

One of the issues is that the organizers wouldn't know if the FQE players would need CFC memberships or not (even in the CYCC) until a new agreement is in place. As we have said, effective Jan 1, CFC memberships will be required by FQE members in order to play in CFC or CFC/FIDE events, if an agreement is not in place.

I'm just saying that if there are alternate bids, the voting members may take this into consideration.

It has been a long time since the VM had to vote on a bid.

As a result of the CSTA conference we are making good contacts now. Of course the CYCC/CO is everyone's focus as it has the most participants, room nights, etc.

The next one will be in Edmonton from March 24-26 2020.

I have only just now been able to log in. If there are questions about the Canadian Seniors CC, I can answer. Our Atlantic Chess Festival event is a complex planning affair. It will evolve month by month, but we are certainly receiving strong, positive signals. Hou Yifan is confirmed as the event's special guest.

Happy to answer questions. Roger

I can verify that Halifax is a beautiful town full of character and history. Fred McKim and I visited in March 2018 for the CSTA conference.

Why am I showing as an Empty Square? Am I due for a posting?

You probably have to make a certain number of posts to be promoted to a pawn. Though others seem to have the title of voting member so maybe its because the quick and dirty way of adding permissions to allow you to post doesn't recognize you as a voting member. Hopefully there won't be an issue with voting.

Halifax has a nice maritime museum and a citadel among other attractions.

Sorry I don't see a bid only the ads of the hotel.

Sorry I don't see a bid only the ads of the hotel.

I did say they were files in support of a bid. Discussions with Hamilton and Durham Region (Whitby) have been more concrete.

I am considering putting in a bid for the 2021 Canadian Senior to be held in Victoria.
The Halifax bid went directly to the Executive. Is that the route for me to follow?

It normally goes to the executive first and then to the next voting members meeting unless there is some time crunch involved. Its probably good for this tournament to move around the country as has been happening.
