RA Chess Club Pickup #1

Three rounds are in the books. I run the pickup double accelerated so you always get somebody close
in strength.

Summer is run as an open house to non-RA members. You have to have a CFC membership and pay $3 rating fee
per tournament. Come out and play on a Thursday, show up before 7:20 PM. We are in the Gatineau Room.

Join the RA in September.

Hi Halldor

Are you the organizer (and TD) of all the 3 Pickups this summer at the RA, in case I wish to play in any? In that event, I'd suppose I can give to you an ordinary (1 year, adult) CFC membership fee, with my CFC rating fee, all in cash, the very night if and when I first play this summer.

We are playing round 3 of pickup tournament no 2 this Thursday. Pay $3 rating fee and have a CFC or FQE membership is all that is required.

I'll try to call you on a week I might wish to show up at the RA, that very week, this summer, in case someone else is running the Pickup game that Thursday. To be clear, my intention was to find out if I could fork over my CFC membership fee the very first night I play again (since I've already let my membership expire). I realize now some organizers (not necessarily at the RA, nowadays at least) might not be willing to accept my CFC membership fee, and insist I pay my CFC membership fee to the CFC office, or else to some other organizer.

On a personal note, I haven't come in the summertime much since the RA Fieldhouse Bar & Grill started forcing customers to be on the patio in the warm months, in spite of weather (and the limited menu). I'm even more ticked off about what the city and the province are doing to OC Transpo with getting rid of bus tickets and sooner or later forcing people to ride the LRT, which in my case would probably make it significantly longer on average to get to Billings Bridge near the RA from where I live. All in the name of the lefties plan to 'save the planet', or, in the case of the lousy Presto card (in place of tickets, unless I pay cash) in the name of a sweetheart deal with Metrolinx by the now defunct Ontario Liberal Gov't, complied with happily by our glorious mayor, an ex-Liberal himself.:mad:
