FWIW, I emailed Yuanling to make sure she's seen this. She has until February 4 to inform them if she's playing.

Well, Hal's FIDE Report ( http://www.chesscanada.info/forum/showthread.php?4064-5-Executive-Reports&p=25855#post25855 )
does mention that the CFC was able to *appoint* our representative (Yuanling) but it wasn't all that clear that she was not only appointed
but has accepted to participate...

Yes, Good luck to Yanling!

Yuanling was a little lucky to win the first game, and seemed to get blown away in the second game.

The playoffs (rapids) are Wednesday 8.00 am Toronto time. http://sochi2015.fide.com/

Yuanling lost the first playoff game, and tied the second, so she is out.

Thanks for the update. With ChessTalk down, I was happy to see this here. Congratulations to Yuanling - she played well in the first game (which went back and forth)
and gave it her all.

You are right about the second game - it was clear White was looking for (and got) a bit of a blow out [makes me leery of ever playing 1. ... f5 against d4! ]

I think Yuanling was outmatched but she forced her opponent to dig really deep!
