This year's Maritime Open Championship is being held in what might be called "the hub" of Maritime Chess, Charlottetown. On the weekend traditionally reserved for the UPEI Open we will be fighting for the Colpitts Trophy, symbolic of Maritime Chess Prowess, dating back to the 1940's.
Play in the 5 round swiss, will be held July 26-28 in the Robertson Library Building, at UPEI. Already registered is IM Tom O'Donnell. The guaranteed prize fund is $800, and could exceed that value if we get a record turnout to the capital city (ie above 25).
1st $250
2nd $150
3rd $100
Under 2000 $100
Under 1800 $100
Under 1600 $100
I'd ask those people planning to come to drop me a line to pre-register and save $5. as well names of the participants (and even maybes are all up on the website and help promote more participants). So please write !!
