Will GM Kovalyov be considered for the Olympiads, since he will be listed as Canadian very soon? It would be a real shame if our highest-rated GM couldn't participate...

Hi Felix:

If I remember, I think in a post some time ago, Hal Bond said that FIDE assured him, at the time of filing the application to transfer federation to Canada by Anton, that it would be processed in time for Anton to play on the Canadian Olympiad team. Hal Bond might confirm this if he would.

Regarding Renier, he indeed had to leave in a rush last Fall, and didn't know back then if he would come back. Since we didn't have any news from him since then, I don't think he will come back any time soon.

I think if Anton had won the Canadian Closed he would have had to pay the transfer fee in order to play in the World Cup. Hal has said numerous times that he would be eligible for the 2014 Olympic Team.

I think Renier should be taken off the list, as he has not shown any desire (that I'm aware of) to transfer Federations.

Leonid Gerzhoy had the wrong CFC rating. It should have been entered at 2571 - putting his average rating at 2520. This will be corrected on next month's list.
