Will there be a discussion period before the voting booth opens?

If no other bids come forward, the vote should be sufficient, as the current bidding group has indicated they will not be modifying their terms.

Are you free to reveal the location of the bid?

The bid was made by the Chess'n Math Association.

The event would be held in Toronto between Xmas and New Year's 2012-13. It would be a 10-player round robin Championship.

Our objective is to attract the top juniors in the country...in otherwords we want to go back to an event where skill is more important than $$$.

Thank you, Larry!

It's an impressive bid!

Just one question:
Do you have any idea for Canadian Girls Championship?

Hi Michael,

Thanks!

It is not in our plans for this year but we would probably be interested down the road.

Larry Bevand,

What will a policy for spectators be at this event? (smth similar to youth events (<=18y.) - no spectators in the playing hall, or will it be more relaxed)

If the event would be held close to a subway, I may come for a visit.

2012 (2013 championship) to be continued.
(It would be third time... and may not happen :D

Hi Egidijus,

Spectators will be allowed in the playing hall...it will be near the Toronto Chess'n Math Association location...and you are more than welcome to come and take pictures :)

Hi Larry,

It's understandable that you can't do everything alone.
But we still need to organize 2013 Canadian Girls Championship... :)

So, the question for you:
Would you be willing to cooperate with another group for the objective to have both 2013 Canadian Junior and Girls Championships at the same place and at the same time as a combined event?

Thank you for your consideration!

We really need to acknowledge here that CMA has made a significant financial commitment to sponsor this event.
Thank you Larry.

And thanks for the Scholars Mate magazines a few weeks ago. The kids really ate them up.

Great news!
Finally, the invitations won't be only based on the CFC rating and some Quebec players might be able to play thanks to CMA!

I must have missed it... when was the last time a player from Quebec was refused entry into the Junior (normally an Open event of late) based on rating?

Congratulations, Larry, on your successful bid!

No doubt - it will be a great event with such organization behind it!

Now, let's discuss the possibility to have at the same time and at the same location the similar event for girls - 10-player round robin.
Is it acceptable for you?
What tasks and responsibilities would you like to delegate to another group?

Obviously, we can't provide such excellent financial conditions for girls as you provide for Canadian Junior, but everything else could be the same.

What do you think?

Thanks for your consideration!

Well it's not about being refused, but about not being invited. For instance, people from outside of Ontario have quite a lot of difficulty qualifying for the Olympiad teams, because they don't have an inflated CFC rating... With the actual system, even GMs Lesiege and Charbonneau would not have been invited to the Olympiads if they had played enough games!

If all the invitations were based on CFC rating, no player from outside of Ontario could play...
