A wild finish at the European Team Championship over the weekend. Germany upset Armenia 2.5-1.5 to take the Gold Medal. Azerbaijan also won to take the silver medal, and Hungary steamrolled Bulgaria 4-0 to sneak ahead of Armenia and Russia on tie-breaks for the silver medal. Less dramatic finish was the Russian ladies winning handily their division.
The first game in the Hou Yifan vs Humpy Koneru World Championship Match went yesterday in Albania, with Hou holding with the black pieces in a Catalan. The Champion will try her luck with white today in game 2. The match is played first to 5.5 over 10 games.
