After 9 rounds in Chennai, IND, Roman now has 5 points and Shiyam have 4.5, with 4 rounds to go, a late surge is going to be required for either to have a truly great event. At the top of the leader board, we now have GM Robert Hovhannisyan (ARM) with 8 points and tomorrow he’ll be matched up against fellow Armenian GM Samvel Ter-Sahakyan, who has 7.5. Tied for third are GM Swiercz (POL) and Indian sensation FM Girish (IND). Among those at 6.5 are American GM Ray Robson, and former leader IM Rombaldoni (ITA).

In Moscow, Peter Svidler and Alexander Morozevich are in the lead of the 7 game Russian Super-Final Championship, with scores of 3/4. Kramnik, lost another game, but evened his score today with a really tricky tactical ending against Nepomniachtchi.

Today is a rest day at the Rostov Grand Prix, but Hou Yifan maintained her two point lead over second place Tatiana Kosintseva with their quick draw, yesterday. Three rounds to go.

In Baku, GM Sergei Zhigalko (BLR) took sole possession of 1st place with a score of 5.5/6. The 22 year old, tied for 5th in the 2011 European Individual and will be participating in the FIDE World Cup later this month. In tomorrow’s game he plays Dreev (RUS), while 2nd place Evgeny Romanov (RUS), 5, meets Bruzon Batista (CUB). Others with 4.5 include Sutovsky (ISR) and Andreikin (RUS).
