FIDE have extended the deadline for bids on the 2012 World Championship match until July 31. The prize fund must be a minimum of 1 Million Euros. Dates selectable are April 1 - May 31 inclusive. It is presently expected there will be at least a bid coming from India.
On Thursday, Alexei Shirov is back in action at the 19th Sigeman & Co International in Sweden. His main competition in the 6 man round-robin will likely be youngsters Anish Giri and Wesley So.
