Ukranian GM Anton Korobov won his final three games, including a last round win over tournament leader, Francisco Vallejo Pons, to take sole 1st place at the Nakhchivan Open (AZE). Finishing tied for 2nd were Vallejo Pons, Zoltan Almasi (HUN), Ivan Sokolov (NED) and 17 year old Spanish IM Alexander Ipatov, who picks up his final GM norm.

The Asian Continental Championship starts tomorrow, in Mashad, Iran. There are 4 goldon tickets to the 2011 World Cup available. Top seeds include R.Kasimjanov, K.Sasikiran, Xiangzhi Bu, W.So, P.Harikrishna, S.S.Ganguly, P.Negi and Hou Yifan. Only one golden ticket to the 2012 Womens World Championship Tournament in the concurrent Women's event.

Lastly, the Candidates matches start in Kazan (RUS), with game 1, quarter finals on Thursday.
