The official placements at the Continental Championship give Mark Bluvshtein runner-up position to Lazaro Bruzon Batista. Mark should now be within a few points of 2600 FIDE.
There is a strong open taking place in Azerbaijan. After 3 rounds, 2nd seed Zoltan Almasi (HUN) and 3rd seed Francisco Vallejo Pons (ESP) are among 10 players tied with 2 1/2. Top seed Wang Yue (CHN) has given up two draws to date. A total of fifteen 2600+ players are participating.
In St Louis, Yuri Shulman defeated Robert Hess 1.5-0.5 to advance to play Gata Kamsky in the finals tomorrow. Tatev Abrahamyan defeated Camilla Baginskaite 2-0 and will play the winner of the Krush - Zatonskih Armageddon game. It looks like 45 min for Krush with white and 27 for Zatonskih with black (and increments). Black only has to draw to advance. It's 5:35pm EDT and the game has started.
