WILLOWDALE CHESS CLUB presents (a GTCL event):

The TORONTO WOMEN'S CHESS CHAMPIONSHIP 2010

October 19 - November 30

This will be an eight player round-robin tournament comprising of the eight highest rated players who apply.

The deadline for entries will be 9pm Tuesday, October 12 at the Willowdale Chess Club (4169 Bathurst St., inside Earl Bales Park), where the draw for positions will take place.
A reserve section will be available if 6 or more additional players enter.
The event will be CFC rated, and the rating fees will be paid by the GTCL.
CFC membership is required.

Schedule: Games will be played on consecutive Tuesdays at 7 pm. at the Willowdale Chess Club
(Earl Bales Community Centre at the Earl Bales Park near Bathurst and Sheppard intersection)

Time control:
60 minutes for the game with 30 seconds increment from the first move.

Entry fee: $60 payable by 9pm, October 12.

PRIZES:
Championship - 1st - $200 & Trophy
2nd - $100
3rd - $ 60
Reserve section - 75% of entry fees.

Hello Everyone,

So excited with the first women chess tournament this year, So far I got girl players who will come: 1/Jackie U12 girl Canadian Champion, Pan-American U 12 girl Brone Medalist, 2/ Zhanna U12 girl CYCC second place. OYCC U12 girl first place 3/ Liu, jiaxin U8 girl CYCC Canadian Champion, North American Champion U8 girl., North American U10 girl Brone Medalist. There will be more Women players come from our Olympic team. We look for other women chess players to come. They are great spirit for girl chess players!

Dear chess friends,

On Tuesday, November 2, at Willowdale Chess Club started Toronto Women's Chess Championship 2010.

We have 6 players, but only 1 game was played on the first day, because Jackie, Rebecca and Melissa just came back home from WYCC in Greece.

The first game result:
Zhanna Sametova 1/2 - 1/2 Yelizaveta Orlova

Other 2 games will be played later:
Melissa Giblon - Rebecca Giblon
Jiaxin Liu - Jackie Peng

Round 2 will be played on Tuesday, November 9, at 7 pm, at Willowdale Chess Club.

Dear chess friends,

On Tuesday, November 9, at Willowdale Chess Club took place Round 2 of Toronto Women's Chess Championship 2010.

Unfortunately, Jackie Peng has to withdraw from the tournament due to amount of school work what she has to do after her 2 weeks absence from school because of WYCC participation.

The results are:
Jiaxin Liu 1 - 0 Zhanna Sametova
Yelizaveta Orlova 1 - 0 Melissa Giblon

Round 3 will be played on Tuesday, November 16, at 7 pm, at Willowdale Chess Club.

Pairings for Round 3:

Rebecca Giblon - Yelizaveta Orlova
Zhanna Sametova will have a bye.

Recently new girl chess player Qiyu Zhou of Finland, 2nd place in 2008 girls Under-8 and 6th place in 2010 Girls Under-10 World Championship, has moved to Toronto. Will new blood for women chess players. Welcome her!

On Tuesday, December 7, at Willowdale Chess Club was completed Toronto Women's Championship 2010!

Well, at least it's main part... :)

After last round we still have a tie for the first place.

Dear chess friends,

On Tuesday, December 14, at Willowdale Chess Club took place tie-break match between Qiyu Zhou and Yelizaveta Orlova for Toronto Women's Champion 2010 title.

Yelizaveta won this match 2-0 and got the title together with the trophy provided by the Greater Toronto Chess League.

Congratulations to Yelizaveta Orlova - Toronto Women's Champion!
