CFC through issuance of its press release # 2/2010, on WIM Yuanling Yuan leading the Canadian Women's Chess Olympiad Team, has managed to arrange 2 television interviews for her:
1. with OMNI TV in Toronto. The filming will be used on their Cantonese language program at 9:00 PM today, and on their Mandarin language program at 5:00 PM on Monday, Sept. 20.
2. with Fairchild TV in Toronto. Yuanling will be filmed/interviewed at 11:30 AM tomorrow, Sat., Sept. 18 at her home, just before she leaves for the airport, for her flight to Russia.
I also was interviewed briefly by OMNI TV as part of their presentation, as being a public relations contact for CFC, and being able to give some organizational background for the Olympiad, and Canadian participation.
CFC has never before had an actual public relations contact ( organizers have in the past promoted their tournaments on their own ), and is now for the first time building a bank of media contacts to whom it can send its press releases. This is a small first step on CFC implementing one of its core objectives - chess promotion to the general public through mainstream media.
