Got my copy of the Newsletter today, like most CFC members. It's good to see a President's Message in what might be considered the official organ of the CFC for the publication of the CFC's decisions and for members to learn of the progress of chess in Canada (or perhaps it and the now public Governor's Letter, plus the CFC website, are jointly the 'official organs'!?).

Good to see a plea for organizers to step up and bid on the Canadian Open etc. in the President's Message. Perhaps even better would be for future CFC President's Messages to at least occasionally include an appeal for members to consider becoming organizers, or found chess clubs, or for existing clubs to affiliate with and/or assist/co-operate with the CFC.

Perhaps it's a bit quaint, but here's a quote of one of the objectives of the CFC, from Section 2 of the CFC Handbook that was written back in the 1970s:

"6. TO encourage with all means within its power, and at its discretion, the publication of a medium from which chess players may learn of the progress of chess in Canada, and which will be the official organ of the Federation for the publication of its decisions"
