Thread: Overlaping dates between 2010 CYCC and 2010 Pan Am Youth

Default Overlaping dates between 2010 CYCC and 2010 Pan Am Youth

It looks like a tradition almost for Canadian Youth Chess Championships to overlap with Pan American Youth Championship.

In 2010 Pan American Youth is schedule:
Pan American Youth 2010 Novo Hamburgo, Brazil 28-Jun-2010 6-Jul-2010

Pan American last round is overlapping with the first round of CYCC. Will be impossible for any of Canadian players to participate in both events.

Is anything that can be done to change the CYCC starting date?

    Andrei,

Yes, we certainly should avoid such overlap.

First what we can do (and actually did! ) - to verify 2010 Pan American Youth dates.

Upon my request our FIDE Delegate Hal Bond asked 2010 Pan American Youth Organizer GM Darcy Lima to confirm the dates.

    Here his response:

    "Confirmation has arrived. No conflict!

Darcy Lima has confirmed the dates of August 1-8:

Yes, that is an old date. The correct date is 1-8 august
In 10 of december we will publish the folder.
    Kindly regards
    GM Darcy Lima"

So, all aspiring Canadian youth players can play in both Canadian Youth Chess Championships and Pan American Youth Championship next year!
    Thanks,

    Default Great news!

    Hi Michael,

I am glad that those dates are not overlaping. The info on FIDE website is outdated.

    Thanks
    Andrei
