    Exclamation Our juniors

I have followed with interest our juniors participation in Turkey because each year WYCC shows us where we stand and how much work lies ahead for all of us. Congratulations to all for representing us on the highest stage!
Here is a copy of my conclusions at the end of the tournament posted on our website:

"... In general our (Canadian) players finished in the top half of their age groups and from the notable round by round results they have exceeded expectations in quite a few ocassions. It is obvious chess life in Canada cannot compare with Europe or Asia and this puts all our juniors at a disadvantage. However they find ways to show us time and time again that we need to keep on working and giving them a better chance to improve.

The grassroots continue to bring in new and exciting players and I find this aspect remarkable given the lack of support from the comunity at large. We have our fair share of smart kids and I can only hope people will notice them and start giving them support; only by concentrating on the positives you can create a vibrant community where everyone (including those less fortunate) will thrive. Who picks up this challenge to notice these kids?..."

Let's not forget that without them any work we do at the adult level means little!
