I'd note that in WWII unintentional bombing of civilians by the Allies was unavoidable, whether done in the liberation of France, or of Germany, for example. Today there is perhaps the belief precision weaponry can change the equation, but it's hard to see how much so, with enemy forces plus any innocent civilians close to one another. In the need to eliminate Hamas, the IDF led the Gazans to know to go to the south away from combat, perhaps with Netanyahu hoping against hope that Egypt might help take the civilians away, but in the past Arab nations have largely refused to take in Palestinians, perhaps partly/mostly to keep pressure on Israel. Now, to avoid a wholesale killing of any innocent civilians, Netanyahu might be best advised to declare victory, as he himself already claims he has eliminated the bulk of them. Israel may always have enemies to take their place. On the other hand, Netanyahu faces a bribery charges trial resuming in more peaceful times...]
