International Chess Day 2023
Message from FIDE
International Chess Day 2023
Dear national federations,
Very soon, on July 20th, we will celebrate International Chess Day. It also marks FIDE's 99th anniversary.
This is a day to celebrate chess. For International Chess Day 2023 we want to reinforce the tradition started in previous years: we ask members of chess community to teach someone how to play chess. The more, the merrier! Be it your neighbour, niece, a colleague or grandfather, let's make the chess family grow.
We would kindly ask you to distribute this information among your members, friends, players, sponsors, and representatives of the media in your respective countries. Please share your experience on social media using hashtag #Internationalchessday.
Additionally, in our social media, we will make room for interesting or original activities, held to celebrate International Chess Day across the world. We would really appreciate your cooperation in this regard. We have a contact email, socialmedia@fide.com, dedicated to receiving this kind of news, and we kindly request you to send us a brief report about your events.
Let’s make our event really big and prove that chess is the most played game in the world!
