Recently, CFC directors discussed some adjustments to CFC qualification rules. Major points:
1. 20-games requirement. According to CFC rules, a player has to play at least 20 games in the 12-month period before the deadline. Obviously, COVID restrictions makes it really difficult for many players to play 20 games in 12 months.
It was decided to extend 12 months period (Apr 2021 - Apr 2022) to 36 months period (Apr 2019 - Apr 2022). Practically, it means that every player who filled this requirement to Olympiad-2020 (which was cancelled) is good for Olympiad-2022 as well.
Faster time control games played in Canadian World Cup Qualifier-2021 and on-line Olympiad-2020 and 2021 will be counted.
2. Canadian Closed and Canadian Women Closed.
Hopefully, we will have them in Apr 2022. The winner of this event gets spot for Olympiad Team. 2-nd place gets 20 points bonus, 3-rd place gets 10 points. 10 points penalty for player who didn't play/withdrew from the Closed.
3. If everything goes smooth, the final roster will be announced after the finish of Canadian Closed-2022 with new FIDE and CFC ratings.
