Default Poll on replacement of CFC FIDE representative

Hal Bond has resigned as FIDE representative.

What should the CFC board of directors do to replace him?

    1. Executive pick someone to serve out the balance of his term.

    2. Hold a special meeting in three to four weeks for voting members to choose a new FIDE representative.

    3. Hold an election April 11-18 (Next scheduled meeting)

4 Do nothing, have the remaining members of the executive fulfill the required FIDE rep duties as required.

    5. Pick someone but have a special meeting in four weeks to confirm this selection with voting members.

    6. Pick someone to serve out the balance of the term but confirm this choice with the voting members at the next voting member meeting.

Voting members please see same poll in voting members forum.

I suggest you find out who is interested in being the Fide rep. The name Gordon Ritchie comes to mind but I suspect there are others.

I humbly suggest that the Executive might be making this more complicated than this needs to be. The old Handbook covers when a member of the Executive (except for the President) is not completing their term, then the remaining Executive appoints a replacement for the rest of said term. That would be #1 above.

Thanks Aris -- I agree with your point -- we could make this very simple and appoint a replacement for the remainder of this term (until our AGM)

As you know, I think you will make a very suitable replacement for this position to represent Canada at FIDE.

I support CHOICE 1 -- to make an appointment and I will nominate your appointment for the remainder of this term.

According to the NFP Act, we have only one choice.

The VM can only elect the successor of a director who has been terminated (removed in the Act) by a vote of the VM.

This is very confusing. How can we have two polls on one issue? Which one is official? Or should we vote on both polls? Or the result of the polls will be combined?

I support Aris Marghetis to be our next FIDE rep.
