I have secured a venue for the 1st OTB "Pandemic Public" Chess Tournament at least in PEI, if not across Canada, at Thanksgiving. I think going forward this will be the most difficult part of running tournaments. Luckily our co-sponsor for last year's Maritime Chess Festival, the City of Summerside, has agreed to host us again this year, once again waiving the facility cost.

The one major change I made to the event was to try and limit playing sessions to about 2.5 hours, in order to give players a break from wearing a mask, and to re-sanitize pieces, boards, tables, chairs, etc. This links takes you to the 2020 Maritime Chess Festival, which in turn has a link to Covid-19 measures to be taken. I'm open to conversation on any of these in this thread.

Everyone involved has to realize that this event could have to be cancelled at a moment's notice because of changing government legislation - for example, without the Atlantic bubble we wouldn't have a big enough turnout to proceed.
