It's ominous for me that Victor (a fellow veteran) played 5 openings that I use regularly at present, yet he only obtained 1 win in the 5 games (that was with a White). Not sure about the ages of each of his opponents, but the kids these days are well coached, it seems. It might be time for me to try to find a repertoire with a few more teeth in it, but still suitable for an aging master.
Also presently, one of the issues that's keeping me from going to the RA club is that public transit from my end of town is no longer completely reliable in my case - notably there's no bus to get me back home late (or even Sunday after 5:20pm) afaik, else I would need to take the (sufficiently unreliable IMHO) LRT (which only stays open till 1 am weekdays). Thus I may wait at least a year to see if things change before going back to play otb, and that if public transit changes again due to popular demand or a failure of the LRT to be reliable for anyone (notably in wintery conditions).
