    Default Wiki re: cult status films

    Fwiw, here's the wiki re: cult films (an off-chess-topic that may still be interesting to many/some viewers, though):

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cult_film

    Wikipedia also includes some entries re: listings of what are considered films to have acquired cult status.

    Also fwiw, some of my own favourite mildly 'weird' (IMHO) movies from the distant past (not necessarily listed by Wikipedia as cult status films) include:

    2001: A Space Odyssey (1968);
    Journey to the Far Side of the Sun (1969);
    The Illustrated Man (1969);
    Beneath the Planet of the Apes (1970).
    Honourable mention (???) goes to Barbarella (1968), which was on my personal list until I found religion circa 1990. This movie is so famous/notorious, it wouldn't matter in the long run if I didn't mention it, I suppose (incidentally, a place in Ottawa is named after this film).

    Coincidently(?), all 7 of the films mentioned so far in this thread by posters feature the use of [almost always Space] flight at some point in their scripts.

    Below are links to wikis re: most of the above mentioned movies:
