Fwiw, here's the wiki re: cult films (an off-chess-topic that may still be interesting to many/some viewers, though):

Also fwiw, some of my own favourite mildly 'weird' (IMHO) movies from the distant past (not necessarily listed by Wikipedia as cult status films) include:

2001: A Space Odyssey (1968);
Journey to the Far Side of the Sun (1969);
The Illustrated Man (1969);
Beneath the Planet of the Apes (1970).
Honourable mention (???) goes to Barbarella (1968), which was on my personal list until I found religion circa 1990. This movie is so famous/notorious, it wouldn't matter in the long run if I didn't mention it, I suppose (incidentally, a place in Ottawa is named after this film).
