R.I.P. Ruth Haring
Sad news in the passing of Ruth Haring as announced on Chess.com. I spoke to her quite a bit when she was USCF president, especially when we were dealing with the Kasparov FIDE election. She was a nice woman. She was just 63 years old.

Oh my goodness, that's so sudden. Just at the recent Batumi Olympiad, Ruth, Hal, and I were stuck at the Istanbul airport, being offered to wait a WHOLE DAY for our connecting flight. We "negotiated" mercilessly until we got rewarded with a flight only six hours later. Throughout the day, the three of us chatted effortlessly about all things chess and life. It was the only time I've ever met Ruth. I recall my first impression that day about how calm and content her reactions were to negative news.
She seemed like a genuinely very nice person. My condolences to her family, and to those of you who knew her better over the years. Thanks for posting this Vlad.
