Default Rating for the Women Team

    Feb 1, 2020

    1. WIM A.Matras-Clement 2297 (FIDE) 2398 (CFC). The average 2348.

    2. WIM M.-J. Oellet (2271+2274)/2=2273

    3. WGM A.Burtasova (2261+2255)/2=2258

    4. WGM Q.Zhou (2229+2290)/2=2255

    5. WFM O.Golubeva (2179+2240)/2=2210

    6. WFM L.Agbabishvili (2119+2280)/2=2200

    7. WFM A.Botez (2020+2280)/2=2150

    8. WIM S.Demchenko (2027+2268)=2148

    9. R.Xu (1983+2123)/2=2053

    A few points:

    1. CFC changed the deadline for the Women Team to allow Canadian Women (CW) (Apr 2020) to be taken into consideration. The new deadline is May 1, 2020. That means the FIDE rating as of May 1 and the CFC rating of May 1 or a few days before will be counted.

    2. The winner of CW will get the spot automatically. 2nd place = 20 bonus points, 3rd place = 10 bonus points. 10 points penalty for no play/withdrawal from the CW.

    3. A player has to play at least 20 rated games (CFC or FIDE) during the 12 month period before the deadline (May 1, 2019 - May 1, 2020).

After some conversations with CFC executive, we decided that player should play at least 20 games in period Mar 1, 2019 - Mar 1, 2020 (original deadline) or in period May 1, 2019 - May 1, 2020 (current deadline).

For example, Q.Zhou played 20 games in period Mar 2019 - Mar 2020, so she has met this requirement.

There'll be 9 games available at the Canada Women Zonal in Kingston at Easter!

Given the current situation, we will likely need to relax the games played rules, if the olympiad happens at all this year. Many were counting on the nine games at the zonal to make their quota of games. If the Olympiad happens next year we will likely need to make some adjustments like allowing a spot for this past year's zonal champion and next year's zonal champion in the case of the men. Everything is up in the air at the moment.
