Youth Co-ordinator's report for year 2017-8

I served CFC since the last AGM.

1. Handled a couple of International Youth tournaments
2. Established all the International Youth chess tournaments and selecting the official players in a more transparent way. Inviting all the qualified players to write in to indicate their interest in representing Team Canada. Selection criteria made known in CFC website and advertised more extensively.
3. Serve in the Kalev Pugi Fund for year 2017 and the selection of the players for the awards.

International Tournaments handled as follows :

1. WCCC in Georgia ( 2016 )
2. WYCC in Russia ( 2016 )
3. WSCC in Sochi, Russia ( 2016 )
4. Pan-Am in Costa Rica ( 2017 ) where we had out biggest contingent in our history and Michael Song and Emma He clinched Gold medal in U-18 and U-14 girl. History created for the first time where normally only 2-3 players attended before
5. NAYCC in New Jersey, USA ( 2017 )
6. WCCC in Brazil ( 2017 )
7. WYCC in Uruguay ( 2017 )
8. NA U-20 in Dallas, USA ( 2017 )
9. U-16 Olympiad in India ( 2017 ). We may send two teams this year.
10. World Junior Chess Championship in Italy ( 2017 )

It has been great to serve CFC and Chess youth community for the past year. I will not be standing again and am nominating Undriadi Benggawan as my replacement. I am very confident he can do a much better job than myself.

Thanks
