Default Eligibility Criteria - No. of Games in Prior Year

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Hi Ilia:

The heading reads " Number of FIDE Canadian Games " in the post about the Women's team selection.

Are the no. of games shown here for the national team a total of both FIDE-rated games and CFC-rated games ?

One of the determining eligibility factors is BOTH FIDE-rated and CFC-rated games in the year prior to the start of the selection process. Here is the CFC Handbook:

    Section 12 - Olympiad Regulations

    1206. Selection of the players

    (a) Eligibility: Players are eligible to play on a Canadian Team if they are:

    (i)

    (ii)

(iii) Have played at least 10 regular CFC rated or FIDE rated games during the year prior to the start of the selection process (which begins 180 days before the start of the Olympiad).

The list should, as far as I can tell, give a total for both types of rated games. Is this the case?

I am suspicious that it is not, because Kevin Spraggett has played a FIDE-rated tournament since March 19, 2009 ( 8 games are shown for the Metz tournament ).

Default When do games start to count

Artem has already qualified with 15 games? When did qualification of games start? Kevin has 10 FIDE games so far this year, Thomas (Iceland) and Pascal (Foxwoods) 9.

Several top players have registered for tournaments out west and there's still the Canadian Closed this August, so does this list mean anything this early on?

A game number is an eligibility criteria. He needs to rise his ratings. "The two highest rated players on the Selection Rating list."

When did qualification of games start?
Have played at least 10 regular CFC rated or FIDE rated games during the year prior to the start of the selection process (which begins 180 days before the start of the Olympiad).

Following the rules: "Selection of players for the Teams by rating shall be based on the average of the player’s highest CFC rating and highest FIDE rating during the year prior to the start of the selection process (which begins 180 days before the start of the Olympiad).
The CFC shall publish, with each rating update, a list of the top 10 Selection Ratings and the top 10 Selection Ratings of female players
    "

I think the Olympiad rating list was done every month or third. The early list reminds about the next Olympiad Eager to know GM B. Sambuev's status too.

    Hi Erik:

The qualifying year for the 10 games this year is March 19, 2009 to March 19, 2010. The early list publishing is to alert players to the fact they may be eligible by rating, but to show whether they still have games to play to meet the " activity " qualification. This way they know if they still need to play more games to be eligible.
