I would like to welcome you to the annual general meeting of the outgoing voting members for the Chess Federation of Canada. For some of you who will not be returning as voting members this will be your last meeting as a voting member - for now at least. Many of you will continue as voting members and will take part in the incoming governors meeting as well. Whether you are continuing or not I would like to thank you for your service and for volunteering to be a voting member. Canadian chess is built on the backs of the volunteers who organize and run the tournaments and clubs and events which give us a reason to have a CFC in the first place.

In this meeting we will have financials for the previous fiscal year. We will have reports from officers and members of the executive. With the help of questions from the voting members we will give a full picture of what happened in the past year at the CFC. The financial picture is a little better than I expected with another surplus of $6,265 despite a significant shortfall in fundraising for the Olympiad team. Our financial situation can only be described as healthy. We had an excellent turnout for CYCC and our youth fund has been replenished with the check already having been deposited in our bank account.

The past year has not been without disappointment in that there were no bidders for the Canadian Open despite many attempts to kindle interest. For next year we have received indications of interest from two cities at least one of which will hopefully bear fruit. For the following year - we have received a very strong bid from Sault St. Marie with excellent support from the local government and a very attractive accommodation package which should encourage people to play, especially for those who register early.

Items on the agenda include Premium Chess the FIDE chess server people and an item by Paul Leblanc on the timeliness of payments from the CFC office.

We have much to discuss and consider for this meeting. Let us begin.
