I understand that ChessTalk was down simply due to planned maintenance - nothing quite as bad as was speculated. Sid is quite correct that there are vulnerabilities in vBulletin forum software that unfortunately are all to commonplace. In this instance, there was a planned outage that was inadvertently not made public (enough). Other outage scenarios are still a possibility
