    The Chess'n Math Association (CMA), the Chess Federation of Canada (CFC) and the World Chess Federation (FIDE) are pleased to invite youth to take part in the 10th Annual North American Youth Championship. For the first time, this event is being held in the heart of downtown Toronto.
    The event is open to players from Mexico, the United States, Cuba, Haiti, Bermuda and Canada. It will be FIDE, CFC and CMA rated. In addition, Central American Chess Confederation players may enter, on condition they do not participate in the Central American Youth Championship. Each Federation can register one official player in each category and gender (U-8, U-10, U-12, U-14, U-16 U-18), up to a maximum of 12 official players and one representative of the federation. Each Federation can register any amount of players in any category it desires.

    Outstation players - only the official representatives of each country - will be provided free accommodation in shared double occupancy with breakfast, and two meals. Those who wish single occupancy may pay the difference. No other expenses are the responsibility of the organizers of the event. International participants are requested to carry sufficient medical cover, and pre-inform the organizers of any pre-existing medical conditions.
    The top boy and the top girl in each section will qualify to participate in the 2014 Pan-American Youth Festival, and will receive the FIDE Candidate Master Title to be officially approved at the 84th FIDE Congress of September 16-26, 2013, in Hatay, Turkey.

    TROPHIES FOR THE TOP 5 PLAYERS IN EACH SECTION
    SECTIONS (age as of Jan 1, 2013):
    Under 8 years old, under 10, under 12, under 14, under 16, under 18. Open and Girls sections. Sections with less than 8 players may be combined at Tournament Director's discretion.
    FORMAT: 7 ROUNDS, SWISS SYSTEM
    TIME CONTROL: Game 90 minutes plus 30 seconds increment.
    LODGING: Privileged accomodation (with free hot breakfast) is available for the players' convenience at the tournament venue itself, at a special rate, on a first-come basis only. 100 guestrooms with two beds and 25 guestrooms with one bed, for arrival on August 14th and departure on August 18th, 2013, have been reserved for the NAYCC. The special overnight guestroom rate is $99.00 per room, per night, plus tax, for single occupancy and $106.00 per room, per night, plus tax for double occupancy. These rates include the full hot breakfast buffet in the Chestnut Tree, located in the lobby level. This is a special rate - please mention "Chess" when you register. The Group Code is "1308 NAYCC".     FRIDAY Aug 16: Rd 3 - 10:00 A.M.; Rd 4 - 3:00 P.M.
    SATURDAY Aug 17: Rd 5 - 10:00 A.M.; Rd 6 3:00 P.M.;
    SUNDAY Aug 18: Rd 7 9:30 A.M.; Awards Ceremony 1:30 P.M.; Blitz tourney ($20) 2:30 P.M.
    TOURNAMENT REGISTRATION: $95 Per Player prior to July 15, 2013; $115 Per Player from July 15 - August 10, 2013, and $135 per player after August 10, 2013. CFC Membership is required for Canadian citizens and residents or a single tournament membership can be purchased for $15 at the same time as registration. Roster changes after July 15 will be charged $30.
    OTHER ITEMS: FIDE rules will be used at this championship since this is an official FIDE event unless exceptions are specified in the house rules. All participants must be under 18 on January 1, 2013. For players who only have one FIDE, CFC, USCF, FQE or CMA rating, we will be using their rating as of August 12, 2013. If a player has more than one of these ratings, the highest rating will be used for pairing purposes. Every effort will be made in the first two rounds, not to pair 2 players from the same country, state or province together. Our guests will be provided tourism activities.
    SPECIAL CHAMPIONSHIP DAY CAMP: The Chess'n Math Association will offer a day camp from August 15th to the 18th at the Chestnut Centre. The Program includes activities and courses at the championship site, analysis of the games with an expert, animation, etc., with IM Artiom Samsonkin (International Master). The camps end daily at 5 P.M. The cost for the camp is $375, and it includes all activities, registration to the championship and to the blitz tournament.

    NOTE: subsequent to the issuance of this notice above, the tournament got FIDE permission to be 9 rds. Rd. 1 was Wed. night, Aug. 14. Rds. 8 & 9 are on Sunday, Aug. 18. No spectators allowed in the playing halls.
