The 8th annual Edmonton International Chess Festival will start today.
The events will be kicked off with a lecture by the famous English Grandmaster-Nigel Short. Nigel's lecture will start at 6 pm and last an hour. This will be followed up by GM Lazaro Bruzon's simul at 7 pm. The cost of each is $10, or $15 together, however, the simul is almost sold out with two more spots remaining. The lecture will have unlimited spots available.
Tomorrow evening the Edmonton International main event will start at 6 pm. Games will be available live on the official website.
The Reserves section will start next Saturday, June 29th, but all the spaces have already been filled for this tournament, although you will still have a chance to play some chess on Saturday, June 29 if you join the Blitz tournament which will be open to all. The blitz will start at noon.
