Default 7B. National Appeals Committee nominations (5 positions)

This committee is the CFC's highest court of appeal for tournament decisions. It consists of 5 members usually International Arbiters or National Tournament Directors though this is not strictly required for the role.

    Please make your nominations here.

Pierre Denommee & Simon Ong have both indicated they are willing to run for a position on this committee. I would ask them to cut and paste any earlier statements they've made into this thread.

I am also willing to stand for the NAC if someone wishes to nominate me.

While we didn't have any appeals in the last year, in the past I've taken on the role of Devil's Advocate, arguing against the prevailing opinion to make sure we've explored all possible avenues, even if I agree with the prevailing opinion.

Thank you David, I accept your nomination.

As head of this committee over this past year, there is not much to report, as no appeals were filed with us.

As a frequent NAC member and fairly inactive International Arbiter, I too am interested though 2012-13 was NOT a busy year for the NAC.

Which is definitely a GOOD thing for chess!

A busy National Appeals Committee is to me a sign we are doing something wrong.

Arrow NAC - my continued candidacy for this committee and to serve as Head of Committee!

    Thanks for the comments Lyle.

I agree with you. I have served the CFC as the Head of the National Appeals Committee for many years. I have also been the Chief Arbiter for the last 2 Canadian Open Championships held in Victoria (2012) and Toronto (2011). The ability to work well in a committee discussion is essential for the smooth running of this process.

As official licensing has been introduced by FIDE as of 2013, it is also my personal opinion and recommendation that we (the CFC) select 5 licensed International Arbiters for the committee.

I am prepared to continue in this capacity. The current 5 person committee consists of:

    2012-2013 National Appeals Comittee:
Mark S. Dutton Chair - CFC President. International Arbiter, International Organizer.
Ilia Bluvshtein PhD, P.Eng. Senior Measurement Advisor, Union Gas.
Aris Marghetis International Arbiter, International Organizer. President, Eastern Ontario Chess Association.
    Lyle Craver International Arbiter.
Christopher Mallon FIDE Arbiter. CFC President: 2005-2006
