You can find all the informations about the 2013 Quebec Open here : http://echecsmontreal.ca/coq/english.html

9 grandmasters have already confirmed their participation, and some others will probably be confirmed soon.

You will find why this tournament is so popular :

- 18 000$ in prizes
- Entry fee as low as 45$ (for junior players)

- An incredible playing hall
- Great competition
- No need for a FQE membership for players living outside of Quebec
- 9 rounds over 8 days
- Side events such as a simul and a blitz tournament
- A Mini-COQ (4 rounds, including 3 with all the other players)
- 5 sections for better prize chances, including an Open section (FIDE & CFC rated)

You won't get a better cost/number of rounds/prize fund ratio!

And a great advantage this year : many players will be able participate in the Canadian Open and then be in Montreal in less than 2 hours, in time for the Quebec Open that starts the day after.

Also, titled players interested to play in the invitational section can contact us for more details.

Finally, some people asked if more side events could be organized. This is surely not a problem, as long as we have people interested in them. What would interest you the most?

- A bughouse tournament
- A lecture by a GM
- A Chess960 tournament
- Something else?
