The CFC Regular Chess Post – March 5/13 – Canadian Wins USA Chess Scholarship.

Canadian Junior, Tanraj Sohal, 2013 British Columbia Open Champion, won a full scholarship to Webster University by winning a scholastic event in New Orleans, USA! Webster University is where Susan Polgar has now established her “Susan Polgar Institute for Chess Excellence (SPICE)”. She has attracted many young elite chess players to Webster and her program, including Canadian Permanent Resident, GM Wesley So ( citizen of the Philippines, and plays for them). See: www.susanpolgar.com Daily Blog for details. I believe, though I’ve not yet been able to conclusively confirm this, that our newly-minted Canadian GM Eric Hansen of Alberta, also has a chess scholarship there, and is in first year now.

    Congratulations Tanraj!

Thanks to FM Hans Jung for bring this to our attention.

Congratulations Tanraj! There is no more deserving person than you after all the time, effort and money you and your family have invested in it all these years. We need more bright and hard working juniors like you in Canada!
