The CFC Regular Chess Post – November 4/12 – CFC Transparency.

CFC has moved a long way from the days of operating behind closed doors. Its AGM is now on-line, and is open to viewing by members/public from coast to coast to coast. There is provision for “ confidential “ agenda items to be dealt with in a “ closed session “ on the Governors’ private discussion board, but this is rarely necessary. And though members/public cannot interact directly in the meeting with the CFC Governors, since the forum is for viewing only, and not posting by members/public, the members/public can still interact with the governors during the meeting time, by posting on the members’ CFC Chess Chat Forum, their questions and comments. Governors can come to the discussion board to see the input, and to respond.

And now the three quarterly on-line meetings ( Oct. 1; Jan. 1 & April 1 ) are similarly on-line, open to viewing, and with opportunity for input through the CFC members’ discussion board.

This has enhanced the trust between the CFC Governors and members, because there is no longer an over-riding concern that somehow the Governors are operating behind the backs of the members. Since this new transparency has been introduced, much of the previous negative criticism of the CFC for secrecy has diminished.

CFC continues to make progress.
